RWS Trados Studio
CustYou can use Custom.MT platform when translating in Trados Studio. The following steps will help you connect your preferred MT provider in the Trados project.
Install the Plugin
Follow the steps described in this article Getting Started, then proceed to the next steps.
Download the plugin for free from the RWS Appstore and install it.
Connect the Plugin
Connect the desired Template to the Trados Studio project (to learn hot to create a template, see Templates). The templates can be connected from:
During project creation, in the Translation Resources step. Select Translation Memory and Automated Translation
Afrer project creation, from Project settings > Language Pairs
In the case of a multi-language project, each template will need to be selected in the correspondi language pair section.
In Translation Memory and Automated Translation, choose Use… and select AI Localization with Custom.MT from the drop-down list.
In the Custom.MT Settings window, enter your Custom.MT API Key in the Enter your user token field, then press “Verify”.
From the drop-down list, select the template you want to use in your project.
Only templates available for the exact language combination of the project will be displayed. E.g., template set for EN-US > ES-ES will not be visible for EN-UK > ES-ES projects.
Translate with Custom.MT
Translation can be lauched during project creation, through a batch pretranslation process or segment-by-segment in the editor.
Translation during Project Creation
Connect the desired Custom.MT template following the previous steps
In step 5 of the wizard, Batch Tasks > Batch processing > Pre-translate Files, make sure that all options are set correctly and that the Apply automated translation option is selected
Click on “Finish”. When the process is over the target fields in the editor will be fully populated with the MT output.
Translation as Batch Task
To launch a batch pretranslation:
Connect the Custom.MT template following the previous steps.
From the project’s home, click on Batch Tasks > Pre-translate Files
Make sure that all options are set correctly and that the Apply automated translation option is selected
Click on “Finish”. When the process is over the target fields in the editor will be fully populated with the MT output.
Translation Segment-by-Segment
If the plugin is active in the project, the editor will also be able to see the automatic translation appear in the Translation results window.
When using this method, the segment will go through all steps of the template every time it is activated, i.e. every time the user clicks on it. This might lead to increased character usage and costs.
Connect the Custom.MT template following the previous steps.
Open the file in the editor
Click on the segment to be populated. The translation from the Custom.MT template will appear in the Translation Results window and the target will be automatically populated if no other match is available
The segment will go through all the Custom.MT template steps before being provided, but will always be marked NMT.
QE with Custom.MT Plugin
When a QE step is activated in the Custom.MT template, different options will be available in Trados Studio.
From the View menu, click on AI Localization with Custom.MT
A new window will open at the bottom of the editor.
The window shows:Translation: the translation provided by the Custom.MT Template
TQE Score: the quality score provided by the model
TQE Model: the QE model that was selected in the Custom.MT Template
TQE Good Threshold: the quality threshold selected in the Custom.MT Template. Segments marked with a score above this threshold are considered good, if they score below they are considered poor.
Filters are also available:
The text can be filtered to show only segments rated Good or only segments ragted Poor.
In the options are selected in Custom.MT Template, segments will automatically be confirmed and/or locked when rated Good. For more details, see: Templates | 6. Quality Estimation (QE)
